Desert Strike is a fast-paced map that takes place in a desert environment, and it features new units and buildings. Aeon of Strife is a custom map that is based on the original Starcraft campaign, and it has been updated to include new units and features. Some of the most popular custom maps for Starcraft: Remastered are Aeon of Strife, Desert Strike, and Big Game Hunters. Another theory is that Blizzard is planning to release a paid map editor as DLC at a later date. One is that the map editor was not included in order to discourage cheating in online multiplayer matches.

There is no official word from Blizzard Entertainment about why the map editor is missing from the latest release of StarCraft II, but there are a few theories. Blizzard employs the same tools in their development of StarCraft’s latest version. It contains a number of tools for game development that are included with StarCraft II. However, there are a number of third- party map editors available that allow players to create custom maps for StarCraft and StarCraft: Brood War. At this time, StarCraft does not have an in-game map editor.
